Mark Foster to run half-term swim camps

One of Britain’s most successful swimmers, six-time world champion Mark Foster is running a number of one-day swim camps across the country this May half term.

The swim camp is a unique opportunity for local children to be coached by some of the UK’s elite swimmers and sports coaches, including Mark and World Backstroke Champion Katy Sexton MBE.

Together they will deliver the training drills, techniques and methods to help young swimmers achieve their potential.

mark fosterBook your child’s place at one of Mark Foster’s half term camps atwww.mfsa.co.ukChildren will be coached on all aspects from improving stroke technique, speed and endurance to advanced land training fitness, strength and flexibility programmes as well as motivation, self-belief, race preparation and tips on nutrition.

The Mark Foster Swimming Academy is suited to young swimmers between the ages of 11 and 18 who either have achieved the ASA Learn to Swim Level 7 framework or are currently swimming competitively at a club, regional or national level.

Due to the high coach to swimmer ratio which ensures each participant receives the attention they need to make a real difference to their swimming development, there are only 60 places available at each camp, so make sure bookings are made early to avoid disappointment.

The initiative from Mark Foster has already inspired hundreds of children to achieve the best level of swimming they can, using fun and informative teaching techniques to engage both young swimmers and their parents, who are also invited to come along and observe.

“I’m excited to be helping and inspiring the next generation of swimmers.” – Mark FosterWith support from the ASA, Mark says “I’m excited to be helping and inspiring the next generation of swimmers.

“I’ve put together a team of some of the most knowledgeable people in sport to help me cram the day with the most up to date techniques, drills and methods available to swimmers so they can be the best they can be”.

Warwickshire County Championships 2015

The Warwickshire County Championships, currently held over the first three Saturdays in March, has yet again been held at the only 50 meter pool locally – Coventry’s historic Swimming Baths.

Dan Smith as always was an ambassador for the club, placing fourth in the 50 Free final, third in the two of the finals he reached – 50 Breaststroke and 100 Breaststroke, and second in the 200 Individual medley and the 50 Butterfly. Well done to Dan for all of his swims.

LewisA special mention must also go to Lewis Carless, who came a commendable third place in the 10 year age group in the BAGCAT points.

Our Junior swimmers did an excellent job in the new age group relays – 10-12’s – and as most of the swimmers are still only 9 they will be able to compete in these relays for the next couple of years all being well!

All five girls – Ella Payne, Eleanor Elwell, Becky Gulliver, Trearna Hart and Catrise Hart – who swam in the Freestyle and Medley relays swam well, and enjoyed the experience.

The boys – Dylan Langston, Harvey Higgins, Lewis Carless and Ellison Hart – also swam well against older swimmers and will be back again to fight for a higher place next year.

Many thanks go to the parents of these swimmers for their help and support – it is very much appreciated.

Other swimmers at the Warwicks were Andrew Gulliver, Jamie Keyte, Jessica Deans.

A big well done to all of the Beeches swimmers who took part in this year’s Warwickshire County Championships – your behaviour was excellent, and you did yourself proud.
