{"id":2458,"date":"2014-03-28T13:45:13","date_gmt":"2014-03-28T13:45:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/perrybeechesswimming.co.uk\/site\/?p=2458"},"modified":"2014-03-28T13:46:59","modified_gmt":"2014-03-28T13:46:59","slug":"veteran-swimmer-wins-the-prestigious-50th-warwickshire-swimmer-of-the-year-title","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/perrybeechesswimming.co.uk\/site\/veteran-swimmer-wins-the-prestigious-50th-warwickshire-swimmer-of-the-year-title\/","title":{"rendered":"Veteran swimmer wins the prestigious 50th Warwickshire swimmer of the year title!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"yui_3_7_2_68_1395933286248_88\">Perry Beeches Sutton Swim Squad Masters and\u00a0Big Ricks\u00a0Open Water swimmer Paul Bates, has been chosen as The Warwickshire County Swimming Associations outstanding swimmer of 2014, Paul was presented with the prestigious B.H Hardridge Trophy At the recent Warwickshire County Swimming Championships held at Coventry\u2019s international pool, The Hardridge trophy (now in its 50<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0yr.!) is given out to the most outstanding swimmer of the year in Warwickshire, (many past winners have been Olympic and Para Olympic swimmers including Eleanor Simmons )..Paul\u00a0from Walsall\u00a0is the first\u00a0Open water swimmer to receive the honour.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">Paul\u2019s C.V of swims in 2013.Took him all over England,and to France and back.!, winning\u00a0 championship swims in both forms of the sport, from the warmth of a swimming pool, to the cold chilly waters found and in lakes, rivers, seas, some of the highlights of the year were being able to Swim and complete of the 2 of the\u00a0 Lake District`s most famous stretches of water\u00a0 Windermere (10.5 miles) and Coniston Water (5.5miles), another was to join 800 fellow swimmers taking part in one of the world\u2019s\u00a0 best open water swims along the famous Henley rowing regatta starting at 4.30am and come 2nd! , as much as paul\u00a0 loves the competitive\u00a0 events,\u00a0 the two stand out swims of year were both charity swims,\u00a0 the first being the\u00a0\u00a0 \u201c2 Swim4life\u201d 24 miles in 24 hrs event held in April at the outdoor 50m lido in Guildford in aid of Help For Heroes. And others were being part of the Pip\u2019s successful record breaking double English Channel team in July.\u00a0 Raising over\u00a0 \u00a310,000 for breakthrough breast cancer charity in process&#8230; in Paul own words,\u00a0 2013 was the best year of his swimming life by a long way, I never thought I\u2019d say that 45.!, I\u2019ve been very lucky to be able to experience so many amazing swims, in such different and breath taking venues across the UK\u00a0 and abroad<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">Paul was awarded the trophy, to keep for one year, along with a special Warwickshire gold medal to keep&#8230;&#8230;
