Safeguarding and policies
The welfare of every swimmer comes first, and looking after it is everyone's job: coaches, volunteers, parents and swimmers.
If you are worried about someone
Contact the club welfare officer, Lydia Enefer. You can raise anything: something you have seen, something a child has said, bullying, or a worry you cannot quite name.
Prefer to talk to someone outside the club?
Swimline is a free, confidential helpline run by Swim England with the NSPCC, for anyone in swimming who is concerned about the welfare of a person under 18.
If a child is in immediate danger, call 999.
How the club keeps swimmers safe
Perry Beeches SSS has adopted Wavepower, Swim England's child safeguarding policy and procedures, which every affiliated club must follow. Two principles sit underneath everything we do:
- The child's welfare is the first consideration.
- All children have a right to be protected from abuse, regardless of age, disability, gender, racial origin, religious belief or sexual identity.
Drop-off and collection
- Juniors, and any swimmer aged 12 and under, need a parent or other responsible adult to stay at the pool for the whole lesson or session.
- Youth and Seniors swimmers under 18 are collected from inside the pool building.
- Coaches are responsible for swimmers on poolside. Beyond poolside, responsibility is the parent's.
- Running late? Arrange for another adult to collect, or call 07793 560698 before the session ends so the coach knows.
- Swimmers under 18 who have not been collected do not leave the building on their own.
