It was a successful weekend at this year’s City of Birmingham Easter weekend meet for the small band of PBSSS swimmers who gave up their Easter Eggs to swim.
Andrew Gulliver, who celebrated his 19th Birthday by winning the level 3 50 freestyle final, also came second in the level 3 100 freestyle final, and third in the level 3 50 Butterfly final. Jamie Keyte also impressively won the 100 IM level 3 , 50 Backstroke level 3 and 100 Backstroke level 3 finals, and came second in the level 3 50 Butterfly final. Danya Gaddu also had an enjoyable weekend – with a big personal best in her 100 freestyle heat, and winning a bronze in the 200 IM final.
Then onto the Juniors, where Lewis Carless was the youngest PBSSS swimmer to have swum the 400 Individual Medley in a competition, coming 4th in his age group. Lewis also came 5th in his age group in the 50 Butterfly, 3rd in the 400 Freestyle and 6th in the 200 Backstroke, all level 2 events. Harvey Higgins came away with an impressive haul of medals, coming 2nd in the level 3 100 Breaststroke and 100 Backstroke, and 3rd in the level 3 200 Freestyle and 50 Backstroke. Harvey also came 4th in the level 3 100 IM. Ellison Hart came 4th in his age group in the level 2 400 Freestyle and 5th in the level 2 200 Backstroke. Eleanor Elwell came 5th in her age group in the level 3 50 Freestyle, Ella Payne came 6th in her age group in the 200 Freestyle, and Sophia Deans came 2nd in the level 3 400 Freestyle. Other swimmers this weekend were Katie Gulliver, Becky Gulliver, Catrise Hart and Trearna Hart. Also many thanks to coaches Tom Reader and Helen Pordage for their commitment over the weekend. A big BEECHES well done to all who took part.
