New British Swimming Rule Breastroke Update

British Swimming have now received official notification of the statement of the FINA TSC: Related to the new FINA Rules about separated hands as mentioned in SW 7.6 (Breaststroke) and SW 8.4 (Butterfly) please note the statement of the FINA TSC as agreed at the FINA TSC at the Meeting in Bangkok (THA) on 6 & 7 December 2013: Separated means that the hands cannot be stacked one on top of the other. It is not necessary to see space between the hands. Incidental contact at the
fingers is not a concern. Attached is a document giving pictorial examples of the interpretation. This can also be found at

Handsworth Update – Big Pool Open Today 06/01/14

Monday 06/01/14 – Handsworth Baths have confirmed that the Big Pool is open as normal.

Widths at Handsworth –

Tahir’s group will continue in the big pool at Handsworth 19:00 til 19:30.

Louise’s group will be at Beeches (still 19:00 – 19:30) until further notice, as the small pool at Handsworth is shut for renovation.

Christmas Disco – Oh what a night!

The annual Beeches Christmas Disco went swimmingly last night, and a good time was had by all! With a variety of music, and ‘children of all ages’ in attendance, the atmosphere was alive to the sound of music.
