Sutton Schools Gala – Help Needed

Please read the email below from Shirley Wigley (email Shirley Wigley), who needs some able bodies to assist with the running of the Sutton Schools gala on Saturday 31st January.

Hello Everybody, I hope that everyone is well and that you all have a happy, healthy and prosperous new year.

I am putting out a request for help with this year’s Sutton Schools Swimming Gala at Stechford Pool on Saturday 31st January. An even larger number of schools have said that they would like to take part this year, which has to be good for swimming, but has made extra demands on the organisation of the event. Many of our younger club members will be taking part.
As a result, there will be a Large Schools Gala at 2:30 in the afternoon and a Small School Gala at 6:00 in the evening. Help will be needed with officiating and the marshalling of swimmers. Whilst it is useful to have a number of qualified officials at this event, helpers do not need to be qualified. Please ask your older children if they would like to help. They make extremely good timekeepers! Also, mention the galas to the parents of children that you know will be swimming at the galas, because many of them would rather work on poolside than sit in the balcony! ( An additional bonus is that helpers get in without buying a ticket.)
If you are able to work at both galas, Jane Sixsmith has kindly offered to lay on tea and sandwiches etc in the bar during the break.
Please could I ask that you respond to this email as soon as possible because I need to put together two teams of officials.
I will give more details a little closer to the date.

All of the 50’s have been updated this weekend, following the personal bests achieved over the last couple of galas. Why don’t you take a peek and see where you are on the ladder, and how high you have climbed.

If you need help accessing the Members section please use the ‘Contact Us’ option on this site – thank you.

Worcester Winter League Round 1

A small band of swimmers, some of them carrying some interesting injuries, made the short journey to Redditch on Saturday. Some valiant swims and several personal bests made the evening an interesting one for coach Tom Reader. A big thank you to Andrew Gulliver and Penny Whittingham who stepped in to swim the 100 Free on the night.

Top three winners on the night were Dan Smith (Open 100 Breast and Open 100 Fly); Penny Whittingham (Open 100 Back and Open 100 Freestyle); Sareena Gaddu (Open 100 Breast) and the Open Medley and Free mixed relays (Penny Whittingham, Sareena Gaddu, Katie Gulliver, Jamie Keyte, Dan Smith and Andrew Gulliver).

Results available in the Members section on this site.

Team spirit on poolside was excellent as always – here’s to round 2 🙂
