Rob Small – Thailand Masters Swimming Update

RSThailand

Rob Small spent six hours travelling to compete in the Thailand Masters Swimming Open, held at the NOC Royal Turf Club of Thailand. Competing in all available events on the day – eight in total – all four 50’s and 100’s, Rob won all but one of the events. The Thai ASA provided a certificate for each competitor to take home with them. Congratulations to Rob from all back here in England.

Warwicks Week 1

Under the guidance of Dave Marsh, the Beeches swimmers who came to Coventry’s 50 meter baths had a long but enjoyable day.

For many of the swimmers it was their first taste of a major open meet, and although intimidating at first, the children warmed to the environment.

beeches boys

Starting off with the 9/10’s relays – girls were Sophie Blackwell, Lily Massey, Lily Spencer and Jessica Deans, and boys were Oliver Bates, Daniel Kilminster, Max Powell and Dylan Scruton. They all swam to the best of their ability, and gained some valuable experience.

dom

The open men’s relay team consisted of Dominic Blackwell, Des Burley, Andrew Gulliver and Stuart Fuller. The Open Ladies team consisted of Grace Morgan, Jessica Jones, Ashleigh Stackhouse and Katie Gulliver (all of whom also made up both the 16 and under girls relay team on the same day).

Girls

Other swimmers on the day were Dominique Gomez and Elliot Langston. Some good PB’s were achieved on the day.

Solihull Diddy Warm-up Gala

Beeches11s
A very depleted team, mainly due to School holidays, and with only 5 boy swimmers, traveled to Solihull for the first Diddy warm-up gala of the season.
The swimmers who were there had a thoroughly good time. For  Jack Skett – a 9 year old, who has only recently come up into the lengths group, it was a good start to gala life. He asked if he could do this every week! All the 9 year olds enjoyed themselves, which is encouraging  for the coaches. Atmosphere on poolside was verygood, and all of the swimmers were well behaved.
PBs on the night:
Dylan Langston on both breast and fly
Mohammed Ismail back
James Nankervis back and free
Kynan Walker on back and breast
Raenne Davidson free
Sophia Deans fly
lily spencer back and fly
Georgia Platt breast

WWL Round 1 at Droitwich

After having been delayed (round one normally takes place in January) by the snow, this was Beeches first major outing since the Christmas Break.

Against tough opposition from Halesowen, Stourbridge and Oldbury, the Beeches team fought boldy to come fourth on the night.

With wins from Jessica Deans (Girls 11/under freestyle), the Mixed 15/under Medley Relay and Freestyle races (Jessica Jones, Dominic Blackwell, Sareena Gaddu, Dominic Cotter, Katie Gulliver and Jamie Keyte), Dominic Cotter (Boys 15/under Butterfly) and Dan Smith (Open Mens Breastroke) it was a good start to the year. In total there were 19 top 3 finishes out of 40 races.
