With effect from this Wednesday 9th September, there are two changes to session times at Beeches pool.
Beginners Lengths has a new start time – 6.30pm every Wednesday (Monday night remains at 6pm). Vicky Harris is the new teacher for Beginners Lengths on a Wednesday (Vicky also teaches Beginners Lengths on a Monday evening at Beeches pool).
The Wednesday night Youth Group will now swim at the same time as the seniors, as per the other sessions during the week. Their start time on a Wednesday will now be 8pm with Tom Reader.
Big Ricks open water Swim Team joined over 700 swimmers in the Lake District over the weekend
To take on the UKs biggest open water event , The Chill Swim Coniston End To End 5.25 miles 2015
Big Ricks team of Claire Thorn , Ross Emery , Stuart Fuller, Charlie Wheadon and Paul Bates ,
Smashed the 5.25 mile distance non-wet suit in 16 degree water., over all the team performed great on the day
between the 5 of us.. Claire won The ladies none wet suit event , Charlie & Paul both won their age group, Ross & Stuart both came in 3place in their respective age groups .Next event for the team is the Epic Macmillan Cancer Support Lido Challenge in London in October , 5k in 12 degree water..
All these events are lead up to attempting a sub 18hrs 2 way swim of the English Channel in July 2016 in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support
Open to competitive swimmers who can achieve the qualifying times, the club’s PB night will be held at Beeches pool, on the night of Saturday 24th October 2015 – warm up at 18:00. Age is as at 31/12/2015.
This is an opportunity to achieve qualifying times for the Warwickshire County Championships for 2016.
Please speak to your coach (with Tom Reader or Helen Pordage) to see which events you may wish to enter. Entry Form: Entry Form Level 4 – your coach MUST sign off your entry form. All entries must be submitted by Wednesday 14/10/15.
Entry fees are £2 an event, up to a maximum of £5 per swimmer.
TOP EFFORT ..to Beeches Masters swimmers Lisa & Tony, who at the weekend took on the big step to try open water swimming for the 1st time.
They both looked like they loved it !
If anyone else fancies trying open water for the 1st time, there are sessions at cliff lakes on the 3rd and 7th of this month (wet suits are provided). This could be your chance before the open water season ends.,to go and try it out – you will be glad you did! Talk to Paul Bates on poolside for advice on Open Water swimming 🙂
