Worcester Winter League – Abbey Stadium, Redditch, Saturday 18th January
This Saturdays Gala was Tom Readers first official gala as senior coach who having only joined us late last year has already had a great effect on many of the senior swimmers. The Gala was a great success with 18 personal best times and 2 unofficial PBs, including:
Grace Morgan, Jamie Keyte, Shantay Douglas, Elliot Langston in their 100m freestyle
Danya Gaddu, Jamie Keyte, Jessica Jones and Sukvir Khella in the 100m Backstroke
Dan Smith, Danya Gaddu and Chanel Kang in the 100m Butterfly
Jessica Deans, Kynan Walker in their 100m Breaststroke Races
Finally, Dylan Scruton in the 50 freestyle, Sophie Blackwell and Dylan Langston in the 50m Backstroke, Dylan Langston also got a personal best in his 50m Breaststroke Lily Spencer in the 50m Butterfly.
Unofficial PB’s were Harvey Kang in his 50m Butterfly and Daniel Cox in his 100m Backstroke
Overall we only had one win from Dan Smith in the Open 100m Breaststroke, but there were several close calls. A huge congratulation to all the team who came a well deserved 5th place, which was a great result when up against 4 very strong teams.
A Massive Thank you to all swimmers and volunteers for their help the gala wouldn’t have happened without you: Coach Tom Reader, Chaperone Mandy Blizard, and Helen Pordage Time keepers, Mark Blackwell and Cher Jones, Referee Keith Munday and Judge Lucy Gale.

British Swimming have now received official notification of the statement of the FINA TSC: Related to the new FINA Rules about separated hands as mentioned in SW 7.6 (Breaststroke) and SW 8.4 (Butterfly) please note the statement of the FINA TSC as agreed at the FINA TSC at the Meeting in Bangkok (THA) on 6 & 7 December 2013: Separated means that the hands cannot be stacked one on top of the other. It is not necessary to see space between the hands. Incidental contact at the
fingers is not a concern. Attached is a document giving pictorial examples of the interpretation.
