Beeches Masterful performance at the Midland Masters

Last weekend   Perry Beeches SSS Masters took a team of 8   to Royal Leamington Spa to take on the best masters swimmers from around the midlands and England at the annual ASA Midlands Masters championships. The team of Jennifer Powell, Rebecca Smith, Angelika McDonald, Tara Leigh Thornton, Steve Dunn, Stuart Fuller, Ross Emery and Paul Bates, once again produced some great individual and team performances. From only 18 events that the Beeches swimmers entered they produced:
2 gold, 7 silver, 4 bronzes, plus 33 top 10 finishes from only 18 events, and 3 top 6 places in 3 relay team events entered.
The hard work the Beeches masters team have been putting in since the turn of the year with Masters coach Helen Pordage and Senior Coach Thomas Reader are really starting to show results. The future looks promising for the team’s forthcoming events. Upcoming events include the ASA Yorkshire Masters in May and ASA British Masters Long Course championships in Cardiff in June.
Anyone wishing to come and try masters swimming, can either pop along on Sunday afternoon at 3pm to Perry beeches pool for the masters session (everyone is welcome) or simply call Mandy Blizard on 07793 560698 for more details

Paul’s C.V of swims in 2013.Took him all over England, and to France and back.!, winning  championship swims in both forms of the sport, from the warmth of a swimming pool, to the cold chilly waters found and in lakes, rivers, seas, some of the highlights of the year were being able to Swim and complete of the 2 of the  Lake District`s most famous stretches of water  Windermere (10.5 miles) and Coniston Water (5.5miles), another was to join 800 fellow swimmers taking part in one of the world’s  best open water swims along the famous Henley rowing regatta starting at 4.30am and come 2nd! , as much as paul  loves the competitive  events,  the two stand out swims of year were both charity swims,  the first being the   “2 Swim4life” 24 miles in 24 hrs event held in April at the outdoor 50m lido in Guildford in aid of Help For Heroes. Sunday 6th April

Haden Hill Leisure Centre & Park

Both an Adult & Children Event suitable for

the whole family

An Aquathlon consists of a swim followed immediately by a run

So you like swimming or maybe you prefer running, why not put the two together and have ago at Sandwells very own Aquathlon. An Aquathlon is a Triathlon without the cycle section and the main starting place to begin in Triathlon.  Distances are shorter than in most events making this Event ideal for those new to the sport as well as the experienced.  For those more experienced, the Adult Sprint is one of the toughest run courses around.  Can’t both swim and run; why not team up with a family member or friend and enter as a Relay team? Juniors – message from Katalina

Hello Everyone!

So far, it’s been great coaching the Perry Beeches team- we’ve gathered all timed swims and technique assessments and know exactly where everyone is at. So now it’s just a matter of learning, developing, improving and becoming The BEST SWIMMER you Can Be!!

The Diddy teams that have been with me on Mon, Weds and Fri have been superb. Very enthusiastic, very driven and keen to learn and improve.

The next Diddy League which is coming up is on 5th April… -I was planning on being there and supporting it, but unfortunately I have to undergo surgery on 3rd April on my ear.

I went to an ear specialist and discovered I have a condition which disintegrates the bones in my right ear, so if left untreated, it can eventually disintegrate the bone which separate the ear to the brain which would result in an infection on the brain. So, I’m feeling very pleased and blessed that it’s been found at this early stage.

Recovery will be about 6 weeks, but aiming to return to work after half term at the end of April, so definitely hoping to attend the next Round 2 of the Diddy League on May 10th!

I’m very keen to see how we all do on the 5th- I’ll be thinking of you all!

SWIM POWERFULLY!! – We’ll be practising all of the essential parts of the race though this week so you all feel ready and RARING to JUMP IN & DO YOUR BEST!!

Katalina
