As part of the ongoing support the ASA Central Division, ASA Workforce Support Services and IoS Training offer for our Swimming Development Officers, Swimming Co-ordinators, Swimming Teachers and Coaches, we are piloting a new opportunity for people interested in becoming CPD Presenters. Successful applicants will be given the opportunity to deliver ASA and IoS CPD Seminars as a licensed ASA Presenter, the process for application is outlined below –
1) Please send a copy of an up to date CV, cover letter/ email and the CPD expression of interest form to jane.campbell@swimming.org by Sunday 14th September 2014.
2) Successful applicants will be notified by email no later than Friday 19th September 2014, and will be invited to enrol onto and then attend the ASA Level 3 Award in Education and Training taking place on the below dates at SportPark, Loughborough (you will be need to be available for all of the dates, 09.30-16.30 each day), at a cost of £495.00 (please see further details below) –
i. Wednesday 8th October
ii. Thursday 9th October
iii. Thursday 30th October
iv. Friday 31st October
3) Once the ASA Level 3 Award in Education and Training has been successfully completed, learners will be able to gain an ASA Presenter Licence in order to deliver CPD seminars. The licence will be included within the price of the course, and will include the following –
i. 12-month Presenter Licence with the ASA Awarding Body
ii. An ASA DBS Enhanced Disclosure
iii. 12 months IoS Membership (which includes insurance)
4) There may be some requirement for presenters to go through a CPD specific induction or some additional training (for example, the ASA National Curriculum Training Programme requires additional input from the ASA School Swimming Programme Manager) – however, these will be arranged on a case-by-case basis and will be at no additional charge.
Funding to support the programme may be available through the following partners / organisations (please contact them directly to see if they can support you financially), although on average a CPD Presenter will earn £30.00 per hour [+ travel expenses] so in most cases, the programme would be self-funded –
i. Your employer
ii. Swimming club (if you are part of a swimming club)
iii. ASA County Association
iv. ASA Regional Association
v. County Sport Partnership
vi. Some local authorities / county councils offer an adult learning grant and may be able to support you if you quote the Level 3 Award in Education and Training.
vii. Visit – http://www.swimming.org/asa/teaching-and-coaching/funding-opportunities-for-teachers-coaches/ for other funding opportunities.
For those who complete the above process and enjoy the presenting role, there may be further development possibility in the form of becoming an ASA Tutor/Assessor – these opportunities / progression pathways will be discussed towards the end of the Level 3 course dates.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me on the email address or telephone number below.
Kind regards
Nick
