CITY OF COVENTRY SWIMMING CLUB – OPEN 50 METRES SPRINTS

(Under ASA Law and ASA Technical Rules) Affiliated to ASA West Midlands Region

Venue

The meet will take place at the 50m Pool, Coventry Sports Centre, Fairfax Street, Coventry on the 21st
September 2013

Timings

The Meet will be split into three sessions, the first Session will start at 10.00am and the start of Session
Two and Three will be determined on the amount of entries received.

Length of Pool

The Pool is 50 metres long and eight lanes, anti- turbulence wave lane ropes will be used. Electronic
time keeping will be in operation.

AGE GROUPS (Age on day)

Girls 9yrs 10yrs 11yrs 12yrs 13yrs 14yrs 15yrs/Over
Boys 9yrs 10yrs 11yrs 12yrs 13yrs 14yrs 15yrs/Over
Eight swimmers, in each age group, with the fastest aggregate times over the four strokes will
qualify for the 200m Individual Medley Final (should anyone qualifying for IM final withdraw no
substitutions will be made).

AWARDS

1. Top Visiting Club
Team award will be made to the visiting club team acquiring the highest points total throughout
the meet (excluding IM Finals). Points scoring system will be based on descending scale 8 to 1
for individual placing in each age group.
2. Individual Awards will be made on an HDW basis
First three places in each age group in each event
3. First three places in each IM Final
Entry Fee is £5.00 per event (entries will be accepted on a first come first served basis).

CANCELLED – Land Training in Sutton Park

UNFORTUNATELY DUE TO NOT ENOUGH INTEREST THE LAND TRAINING SESSION  HAS NOW BEEN CANCELLED. APOLOGIES FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE CAUSED.

Gary Tonks and Amaro Viloria wish to run a Land Training Session in Sutton Park on Tuesday 6th August, from 2pm until 5pm. Please can you email secretary@perrybeechesswimming.co.uk to register your interest asap. There will be a cost of £2 per swimmer. All swimmers to wear appropriate comfortable clothing and sensible footwear (e.g. trainers).

Minimum number of ‘swimmers’ required to take place.

Minimum age 10.

ASA young volunteers course for 14-25 year olds

Please see email below from Jane Campbell from the ASA. This is an enjoyable experience for all who take part – and a chance to make some new friends in the swimming world.

There will be a Pool Helpers course and Timekeeper course available for 14 – 25 year olds.

City of Birmingham Triathlon Sutton Park 21st July 2013

Two of Beeches sc masters swimmers , joined well 1000 people in Sutton park early on Sunday morning to try there their hands at the many forms of triathlon events being held at the  City of Birmingham Triathlon. There were sprint races , relay teams , super sprint events right up the full Olympic distance races (1500m swim,40k bike,10k run). Nick Platt from Beeches Sc and Henwood court attempted  his 1st full length triathlon in the over 40 age group . Nick produced a great performance coming in just over 2hrs 50 minutes which placed him in 19th place in his age. Beeches SC other swimmer was Paul Bates who took on the relay triathlon event,  doing the swim leg as part of a team entry. aul put in  a great swim around the 2 laps of Sutton parks Powell’s pool  , doing the fastest time for the swim of anyone on the day 19mintutes 19 seconds helping his team finish in creditable  13th place . Well done to all who took part.
